Got a bit ahead of myself there. With the Fins and other versions I haven't migrated the LODs yet.
For reasons. Impress me in the comments with what made me make yet another version of this car.
Also mention things I got wrong so I can fix them.

Car pulls to the right in a straight line
ReplyDeleteYou've found one of the reasons I had to make my own version of the car.
DeleteAs in real life this car now has a Live rear axle.
The torque reaction causes it to steer slightly, so not so much as pulls to the right but that going in a straight line the steering wheel is slightly left hand down.
I'll need to work out if it should steer left or right and how strong the force should be.
I guess you have no FFB?
DeleteSomewhat late response, but do you know what affects the steering in this manner? I play on controller and this issue crops up in a few cars, even ones without live axles. I would be grateful for any instruction you can give.
DeleteCan't be helped then. The car under power rear steers as it does in real life.
DeleteWith a wheel you can't notice it until you look at your wheel and realise it is cocked to one side as the FFB aligns it there and driving in a straight line is trivial. Short of inventing a gamepad with FFB there is nothing that can be done.
The car is really good. I tried it with other D-type mods on the Goodwood circuit. Maybe slightly faster than in real life? I have large pixels on the car body. It's close Velo's mod but a bit more difficult to handle, trickier to drive, braking and accelerating, but very fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks, can't seem to repeat the large pixels, could you take a screen shot to show me what you mean?
DeleteI have a screen but don't know how to send it to you.
Deletecan you upload the indy roadsters again
ReplyDeleteI will definitely check this out when I find bit of free time. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteNow this feels like a 1955 sports car. Loving it. Weeee!
ReplyDeleteI can't drive straight the steering wheel isn't centered and the car has a non flat normal
ReplyDeleteI guess you have no FFB?
DeleteWhat is a non flat normal?
DeleteOne of the jaguars had a textured normal map, probably made from the ao map, anyway that's where the big pixels come from when the sun hits it
It drives like a charm
ReplyDeleteany chance you would share the preview you use for the screenshots? :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the Dynamic preset, which I think is built in to CM.
Deletewow, would you look at that. Thanks!
DeleteDo you know if a Jaguar XKSS model exists? It's sort of the road legal version of this car, it was driven by Richard Hammond in some Top Gear / Grand Tour special.
ReplyDeleteHaven't come across one.
DeleteHi. Love these Jag mods. The rear lights on the racing 2.5 L car are not working. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAwesome stuff, thank you ! steering wheel with upward spoke just like the real thing
ReplyDeleteThank you very much
ReplyDeletewhat a blast ! Classic 4 wheel drifters ftw. driver model seems to be seated a bit high, I also wish we could find a proper xk engine sound...
ReplyDeleteNice, very nice. Only tried the factory legion_jaguar_d_type and thelegion_jaguar_d_type_2_5_litre so far and I noticed the rear/brake lights are not lit. They do shed light on track though.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you asking to be impressed? The car is very delicate to drive, especially when braking. It takes quite a while to get used to it, but I like it, it's a drifter. For the problems, I think it is related to the LODs, the wing disappears at a certain distance (the same for the car with a co-driver, it disappears). I tried Pasta's skin and it has a fin that should'nt be there). Thanks for your lovely cars !
ReplyDeleteI just meant to ask if anyone could guess why I felt like doing this car when there where already at least two conversions done by others.
DeleteFind the ext_config.ini file in a skin folder of a car without the fin and copy that over to the skin folder of the new skin.
I tried the one by Velo, and left a commentary on Pasta's patreon, for Velo's version is, if not undrivable, almost.
DeleteThanks for the tip
ReplyDeleteConverting the suspensions to the COSMIC version affects or improves the handling quite a bit and therefore the laptimes. What types of suspension benefit the most from COSMIC? In the case of the Formula Vee, it was rather slowed down but the handling is better.
ReplyDeleteA true mono shock rear end could only be done in COSMIC. Dedion rear suspension, solid front axles will the the first cars I revise. DWB is handled OK by AC so only in a few cases would that need to change.
DeleteI have an idea, you wanted to bring a better Jaguar D-type to the Le Mans Project for their upcoming 1955 grid?
